Hisar, Haryana – International boxer Sweety Boora has leveled serious allegations of domestic violence, extortion, and harassment against her husband, Deepak Hooda, a former captain of the Indian Kabaddi team. In a tearful press conference held on Sunday, Boora detailed a pattern of abuse spanning their marriage.
Boora claimed Hooda demanded a ₹2.5 crore Mercedes-Benz before their wedding and subjected her to frequent physical assaults. She alleged that during these attacks, Hooda would subsequently beg for forgiveness, claiming to be an orphan. She further described an incident where Hooda assaulted and choked her in the car while returning from a meeting with the Chief Minister in Chandigarh.
Boora’s lawyer, Satveer Singh, stated that Hooda has attempted to discredit her by alleging extramarital affairs but lacks evidence to support his claims of domestic violence. Boora also accused Hooda of tax evasion and manipulating financial transactions, including using her family’s accounts for salary payments to his associates without paying taxes.
Boora revealed that she had initially requested a divorce, offering to forgo any financial settlement. Hooda, however, refused and allegedly threatened her life. She further accused Hooda of filing a false police report in Rohtak against her and her family, including accusations of property grabbing and assault. Boora maintains that she purchased a plot of land in 2018, before their marriage, and Hooda’s claims are false.
Hooda also filed a complaint against Boora, alleging assault and domestic violence, leading to cases being registered against both parties in Hisar and Rohtak. Boora claims that recent police actions, including summoning her for questioning for extended periods, are part of a larger effort to pressure her. She stated that if anything were to happen to her, Deepak Hooda and the Hisar SP would be responsible.
Boora, a BJP leader, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for intervention, expressing fear for her safety and seeking a swift divorce from Hooda. She emphasized that she does not seek financial compensation, only justice and an end to the harassment. Both Boora and Hooda are BJP leaders, although Hooda contested and lost the recent assembly elections.
