**Jhalawar, Rajasthan:** A 23-year-old woman has been arrested in Rajasthan after allegedly biting off a portion of her husband’s tongue during a violent domestic dispute. The incident occurred late Thursday night in Bakani town, Jhalawar district, police reported Saturday.
Ravina Sain, 23, and her husband, Kanhayalal Sain, 25, had been married for 18 months and had a history of frequent arguments, according to Assistant Sub-Inspector Brijraj Singh. During a particularly heated altercation, Sain allegedly bit off part of her husband’s tongue.
Kanhayalal was rushed to a local hospital and subsequently transferred to Jhalawar Medical College Hospital for treatment. Doctors reportedly indicated the possibility of reattaching the severed portion of his tongue.
Following the attack, Ravina Sain reportedly attempted self-harm by trying to cut her wrist with a sickle. However, family members intervened and prevented her from doing so.
A case has been filed against Ravina Sain under sections 115(2) and 118(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (the Indian Penal Code’s successor) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. Police are awaiting a statement from the injured husband.
