HYDERABAD, INDIA – Unseasonal rains and hailstorms have battered several districts across Telangana state, causing damage to crops and property. The affected areas include Adilabad, Nizamabad, and Karimnagar districts.
In Nizamabad district, the towns of Dharpally and Indalwai experienced heavy rainfall, with hailstones damaging paddy crops in Wadi village of Dharpally. Karimnagar district’s Choppadandi market saw significant damage to maize crops due to the downpour.
The Medak district was also impacted, with strong winds, thunder, and lightning accompanying the rainfall. In Medak town, a house in Jambikunta street was struck by lightning, though thankfully no one was injured. The incident resulted in significant damage to the home’s contents. Mango crops were also affected in Medak, Papannapeta, and surrounding mandals.
Siddipet district also saw rainfall in Dubbak, Mir Dodd, and Toguta mandals. The unexpected downpour comes amidst a period of intense heat across the region. Farmers are assessing the extent of the damage to their crops.
