Fri Mar 21 06:42:33 UTC 2025: ## Indonesian Volcano Erupts, Disrupts Air Travel
**Jakarta, Indonesia – March 21, 2025** – Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki in East Flores, Indonesia erupted three times on March 21st, sending an ash plume 8,000 meters into the air. Authorities responded by raising the volcano’s alert level to the highest and expanding the danger zone to 8 kilometers from the crater. While no immediate evacuations were reported, several airlines cancelled flights between Australia and Bali due to the ash cloud, causing delays for other international and domestic flights.
The volcano, which had experienced increased seismic activity and visible volcanic activity over the past week, has been relatively quiet following the eruptions. However, residents have been warned to be aware of potential lava flows due to rainfall. A previous eruption in November resulted in nine deaths and numerous injuries.
Indonesia’s geology agency cited the volcano’s location along the “Ring of Fire,” a seismically active zone, as a contributing factor to the eruption. The country, home to 120 active volcanoes, is frequently impacted by seismic activity.
