**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, March 21, 2025** – Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil Shukla, were arrested and remanded in 14-day judicial custody on Wednesday for the murder of Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer. Rajput’s body was found dismembered and encased in a cement-filled drum.
Police say the couple confessed to stabbing Rajput on March 4th, dismembering his body, and concealing it in the drum. The gruesome discovery was made after Muskan informed her parents on March 18th, leading to a police investigation and the subsequent arrests.
A shocking claim emerged from Rajput’s mother, Renu Devi, who stated that the couple’s six-year-old daughter had reportedly said, “Papa is in the drum.” However, Meerut SP City Ayush Vikram Singh dismissed this, suggesting the child learned of the details after the incident came to light.
Devi also accused Muskan’s parents of knowing about the murder before contacting the police, alleging they only acted to avoid legal repercussions. The police, however, have not confirmed this claim.
Further investigation revealed that Muskan had been planning the murder since November 2023, exploiting Sahil’s superstitions by creating a fake Snapchat account impersonating Sahil’s deceased mother to manipulate him into committing the crime. She also purchased knives and sedatives in preparation for the murder, believing Rajput’s estranged relationship with his family would hinder any investigation into his disappearance.
Muskan and Sahil reportedly spent a distressed night in jail, with Muskan remaining silent and refusing food. The investigation is ongoing.
