**Palghar, March 21, 2025** – A 27-year-old man, Shrey Agarwal, was found dead in his rented bungalow in Vasai, Palghar district, on Wednesday evening, in what police suspect to be a suicide involving carbon monoxide. Five cylinders of the gas were discovered inside the sealed bungalow.

Agarwal’s body was discovered after his sister, unable to contact him, reached out to the Mumbai police commissioner. Using technical intelligence, the Mumbai Crime Branch located Agarwal and alerted the Naigaon police.

Upon arrival, police found the bungalow’s doors and windows sealed with adhesive tape and wooden planks. Agarwal had left a note outside warning of the presence of carbon monoxide and providing safety instructions. A second note inside detailed his severe illness as the reason for his actions.

Firefighters, equipped with protective gear, entered the bungalow using a hydraulic cutter-spreader. Agarwal’s body, showing signs of severe swelling, was recovered and sent for post-mortem. A local carpenter who sealed the bungalow two days prior is being questioned regarding the source of the carbon monoxide cylinders. The investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the gas.
