NEW DELHI – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the Class 12 Political Science exam for the 2025 academic year will be held on March 22, 2025. A sample paper released by the board highlights key areas of focus for students. The exam will test students’ understanding of significant global and regional political events and organizations, as well as India’s post-independence political landscape.
Sample questions released by the CBSE indicate a strong emphasis on the post-Cold War role of the United Nations, the effectiveness of the European Union, and the rise of new power centers like South Korea. Students will also be assessed on their understanding of the socio-economic impact of the Partition of India, the role of language in Indian nation-building, and key political developments in India between 1989 and 1999. The sample paper includes essay questions requiring in-depth analysis, such as justifying the UN’s post-Cold War role and evaluating the success of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
The sample paper also included multiple choice questions focusing on SAARC’s primary goals and the objective of the South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA). While SAARC aimed to foster cooperation among South Asian nations through multilateral means, its success has been limited due to persistent political differences among member states. The SAFTA, however, aimed to establish a free trade zone across the region.
Students are advised to visit the official CBSE website to access the complete sample paper and prepare accordingly. The exam is expected to rigorously test students’ analytical and critical thinking skills.
