Fri Mar 21 09:41:57 UTC 2025: ## Eight Years on the Run: Police Nab Fugitives in Child Sex Trafficking Case

**Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, March 21, 2025** – The Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) police have apprehended two individuals, Sathishkumar and Tamizharasi alias Kavitha, who had been evading arrest for eight years. The pair were convicted by a Mahila Court in Cuddalore in 2014 for trafficking two minor girls and forcing them into sex work.

Sathishkumar, the main accused, was arrested in Coimbatore on March 18th, while Tamizharasi was apprehended in Tiruvannamalai on March 19th. The duo were located after a special CB-CID team, acting on instructions from senior officials, launched a manhunt.

The case, initially investigated by Tittagudi police and later transferred to the CB-CID, involved 16 accused. Sixteen individuals were convicted, receiving sentences ranging from four life sentences to ten years of rigorous imprisonment. Following the trial, three individuals absconded. One, Jebina, was apprehended in 2024, leaving Sathishkumar and Tamizharasi at large until their recent arrests.

The charges included sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to kidnapping and wrongful confinement, and sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prohibition) Act, 1956, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The arrested individuals were produced before the POCSO court and remanded to Cuddalore Central Prison.
