Wed Mar 19 11:40:00 UTC 2025: ## MLB Season Kicks Off in Japan with Dodgers-Cubs Series

**Tokyo, Japan** – The 2025 Major League Baseball season is officially underway, beginning with a unique two-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs in Japan. The series, starting Tuesday, March 18th at 6:10 a.m. ET, marks the first regular season games for both teams, and can be viewed on MLB.TV or Fubo. This opening series features several offseason acquisitions, including the Dodgers’ Tanner Scott and Blake Snell, and the Cubs’ Kyle Tucker.

The traditional Opening Day festivities for the remaining 28 teams will commence on Thursday, March 27th. While the Dodgers and Cubs will have already played two games, they’ll still be in action on the 27th: the Dodgers hosting the Detroit Tigers and the Cubs facing the Arizona Diamondbacks. The only teams sitting out on March 27th are the Tampa Bay Rays, who were granted an extra day of preparation due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton in the Tampa area. They’ll be playing their home games temporarily at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Florida. Fans can stay updated on all the action through USA TODAY’s Sports newsletter.
