Wed Mar 19 04:30:00 UTC 2025: ## UP Streamlines Electric Vehicle Subsidy Process: District-Level Approvals Now in Effect

**Lucknow, UP –** The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has announced a significant change to its electric vehicle (EV) subsidy program, decentralizing the approval process to district-level authorities. Previously, all subsidy applications, regardless of district, were processed centrally, causing delays and logistical issues.

Under the new system, Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and Regional Inspectors (RIs) will now verify and approve subsidy applications within their respective districts. This move aims to expedite the disbursement of subsidies – ₹5,000 for two-wheelers and ₹1 lakh for four-wheelers – directly to EV owners. The change comes in response to challenges with the previous centralized system, including incomplete documentation and difficulties with OTP-based verification.

Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh stated that this decentralization will streamline the process, enabling applicants to complete all formalities locally. However, subsidies for e-buses (₹20 lakh per vehicle) will continue to be processed at the Transport Headquarters. The state government continues to actively promote electric mobility, though subsidies are currently not available for e-rickshaws.
