Tue Mar 18 15:54:45 UTC 2025: ## Rajasthan Royals Delay IPL Debut of 13-Year-Old Prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi

**Jaipur, India** – Rajasthan Royals (RR) have confirmed that 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest player ever signed to the Indian Premier League (IPL), will not make his debut in the upcoming 2025 season. Suryavanshi, who was purchased for a record Rs 1.10 crore last year, enjoyed a meteoric rise in 2024, setting several records in both domestic and international youth cricket.

His achievements include becoming the youngest Indian to score a List A fifty in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and achieving the fastest youth Test century by an Indian (58 balls) against Australia. He also played a key role in India’s U19 Asia Cup campaign.

Despite Suryavanshi’s remarkable talent, RR batting coach Vikram Rathour stated that the teenager’s IPL debut will depend on team strategy, pitch conditions, and opposition. “He is a very special player with incredible power for someone so young,” Rathour said at a press conference. “But his debut will take time.”

Rathour, who rejoined RR’s coaching staff alongside head coach Rahul Dravid, emphasized the importance of Suryavanshi’s continued development. The veteran coach, who previously worked with Dravid in the Indian national team, highlighted the similarities and differences between coaching in the IPL and international cricket. He noted the longer-term player relationships in the IPL, compared to the constantly changing squad dynamics of international cricket.

RR, captained by Sanju Samson, begins their IPL 2025 campaign this Sunday against Sunrisers Hyderabad. While Suryavanshi’s debut is on hold, his remarkable talent and potential ensure he remains a highly anticipated figure in the future of Indian cricket.
