**New Delhi, [Date]** – A new report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals a staggering disparity in wealth among India’s MLAs. The study, analyzing self-sworn affidavits of 4,092 MLAs across 28 states and three union territories, found that BJP’s Parag Shah from Mumbai’s Ghatkopar East is the richest, with declared assets totaling nearly ₹3,400 crore. This surpasses the combined annual budgets of several smaller states.

Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar from Karnataka’s Kanakapura holds the second position with assets exceeding ₹1,413 crore. The report highlights a significant wealth gap, with BJP MLA Nirmal Kumar Dhara from Indus, West Bengal, declaring the lowest assets at just ₹1,700.

Andhra Pradesh stands out, with four MLAs in the top ten wealthiest, and seven in the top twenty. The state also boasts the highest average MLA assets at ₹65.07 crore. Karnataka follows closely with an average of ₹63.58 crore, while Maharashtra’s average is ₹43.44 crore. In contrast, Tripura recorded the lowest average, at ₹1.51 crore.

The collective wealth of the 4,092 MLAs analyzed reaches a staggering ₹73,348 crore – exceeding the combined annual budgets of Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya for 2023-24. Among major parties, BJP MLAs collectively hold ₹26,270 crore, surpassing the combined annual budgets of Sikkim, Nagaland, and Meghalaya. Congress MLAs’ combined assets amount to ₹17,357 crore.
