Tue Mar 18 16:09:23 UTC 2025: **Bengaluru’s Ramzan Food Scene Shifts: Koramangala Emerges as New Hotspot Amidst Fraser Town Slowdown**

BENGALURU, March 18, 2025 – While the peak of the Ramzan season hasn’t arrived, Bengaluru’s food scene is already seeing a significant shift in its culinary landscape. This year, ongoing roadwork near Mosque Road in Fraser Town, a traditional hub for Ramzan delicacies, has drastically impacted business, with vendors reporting a 50-70% decline in sales. The Frazer Town Residents’ Welfare Association’s past concerns about congestion and waste have been exacerbated by the construction, forcing many stalls to relocate or close.

Restaurant owners lament the impact of reduced foot traffic and parking issues. Patgar Jaffer of Taj Restaurant reported a 50% drop in sales, attributing it to the lack of street stalls and parking difficulties. Other vendors echo these concerns, noting that the reduced visibility of food stalls is deterring customers.

However, some patrons welcome the quieter atmosphere. Long-time visitor Fathima Musthafa notes a less crowded, cleaner environment.

In contrast, Koramangala’s Ramzan Food Mela is booming, attracting an average of 5,000 visitors daily with over 50 stalls. Vendors cite the area’s commercial nature as a key factor for its success, with many relocating from Fraser Town and retaining their loyal clientele. The organized mela, offering a wide variety of sweets and savory items, is proving a popular alternative.

Other locations such as Kamanahalli, Bamboo Bazaar, and Adinagar are also hosting Ramzan food melas, with Johnson Market and Shivajinagar also experiencing a good turnout. Food bloggers are also contributing to the buzz, with many highlighting the authenticity and affordability of Shivajinagar’s offerings. The overall trend suggests a diversification of Ramzan food markets across the city, with Koramangala emerging as a significant new player.
