**Jaipur, Rajasthan –** A Rajasthan couple has been arrested for kidnapping a four-year-old boy from Jaipur railway station last week. Sundar Kashyap and Jeevika, both 28, were apprehended in Mahuwa, Dausa district, two days after the abduction. The child, Shivam, was safely recovered and reunited with his parents.
The incident occurred on the evening of March 14th when Shivam and his mother, Priyanka, were waiting for a train to Siwan, Bihar. CCTV footage shows Jeevika luring the child away before boarding a bus to Uttar Pradesh with Kashyap. Priyanka, a daily-wage worker, filed a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) the following day.
The CCTV footage proved crucial in the investigation, allowing police to quickly track the couple. According to Ajmer GRP DSP Narender Singh, Jeevika, a mother of two who had separated from her husband, was unable to conceive after a sterilization procedure. Unable to have children through medical means, the couple reportedly planned the kidnapping for eight months, conducting surveillance at the railway station before executing their plan. They even packed clothes, snacks, and milk for the child, intending to raise him as their own, even giving him the name Ashish.
The couple has been charged under Section 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping. The swift action by the GRP, utilizing CCTV evidence and efficient investigation, ensured Shivam’s safe return within 48 hours.
