Wed Mar 19 13:56:48 UTC 2025: ## BJP Slams Telangana Budget, Accuses Congress of Betraying Electoral Promises

**Hyderabad, March 19, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Telangana State Budget presented Wednesday, accusing the Congress government of reneging on its electoral promises and misleading the public. Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar led the charge, alleging that the budget is riddled with “falsehoods, numbers manipulation, and exploitation,” surpassing even the previous BRS government’s shortcomings.

The BJP criticized the inadequate allocations for education and healthcare, questioning the fate of schemes like Aarogyasri and fee reimbursement. Kumar further questioned the government’s priorities, suggesting that minorities were prioritized over Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes. He demanded the release of detailed budget and expenditure accounts from the past year and the previous 10 years of BRS rule.

The party also highlighted the budget’s failure to address key promises, including the establishment of a Gig Workers’ Welfare Board, pending government employee DA arrears, and promised financial assistance to women and farm laborers.

Deputy Floor leader Payal Shankar and party general secretary K. Venkateshwarlu echoed these criticisms, describing the budget as lacking vision and direction, failing to adequately address the state’s significant debt. Former MLC N. Ramchander Rao added that the budget contained misleading information regarding scheme implementation. Party spokesperson N.V. Subash deemed the budget “unrealistic,” arguing that while the overall size increased marginally, the allocations fell far short of fulfilling Congress’s electoral commitments. He demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister. The BJP contends that the budget has betrayed every section of society, leaving unemployed youth without promised stipends and neglecting the needs of weaker sections.
