Wed Mar 19 07:40:00 UTC 2025: ## B.C. Woman Detained in U.S. Returns Home After Two Weeks

**Vancouver, BC** – Jasmine Mooney, a 35-year-old businesswoman and former actress from British Columbia, has returned home after being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for nearly two weeks. Mooney was apprehended on March 3rd in California after her visa application was denied upon entry from Mexico.

Mooney’s mother, Alexis Eagles, confirmed her daughter’s arrival at Vancouver International Airport early Saturday morning. Eagles described the detention conditions as inhumane, alleging overcrowding and limited bathroom facilities in the cell where her daughter was held with 30 other individuals.

ICE stated that Mooney’s detention was in accordance with President Trump’s executive order targeting those in violation of U.S. immigration law. The agency cited a lack of legal documentation as the reason for her detention.

B.C. Premier David Eby expressed concern over the incident, stating that it highlights anxieties surrounding U.S.-Canada relations and the potential implications for Canadians travelling or working in the United States. Eagles has stated that she will not be travelling to the U.S. in the foreseeable future. Mooney’s case has sparked further debate regarding the treatment of Canadians by U.S. immigration authorities.
