VIJAYAWADA, March 19, 2025 – The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly passed the Andhra Pradesh State Teachers Transfers Regulation Bill 2025 on Wednesday. Introduced by IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the bill establishes a web-based counselling system for transferring Grade-II headmasters and teachers. Mr. Lokesh hailed the passage as a historic move.

The bill clarifies that teachers do not have an automatic right to transfer and that postings cannot be guaranteed to specific locations. The government will announce vacancies based on retirements, compulsory transfers, reapportionments, unfilled positions due to extended absences, study leaves, and those created during the transfer process.

Mr. Lokesh stated that extensive consultations were conducted with various teachers’ unions, including those affiliated with the YSR Congress Party.
