Mon Mar 17 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Launches ₹6,000 Crore Self-Employment Scheme for Unemployed Youth

**Hyderabad:** Telangana Deputy Chief Minister, Battti Vikramarka, announced a new self-employment scheme, “Rajiv Yuva Vikasam,” aimed at providing financial assistance to unemployed youth from Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Backward Classes (BCs), and minority communities. The scheme, with a budget of ₹6,000 crore, is expected to benefit 500,000 unemployed individuals.

Vikramarka stated that the scheme will provide individual financial assistance of up to ₹3 lakh. Applications will be accepted online from March 15th to April 5th, with processing and selection by district collectors from April 6th to May 31st. Beneficiaries will receive their sanction letters on June 2nd, Telangana’s statehood anniversary. The scheme will initially be implemented through existing corporation channels for SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities, with plans to expand to other communities in the future. The state government will directly provide bank-linked loans to the unemployed.

The Deputy CM criticized the previous ten years of BRS rule, alleging neglect of unemployed youth from these communities and the crippling of their respective financial corporations.

In addition to the employment scheme, Vikramarka also announced an allocation of ₹540 crore for the development of Chakali Ilamma Women’s University in Kothi, including ₹15.5 crore for the immediate restoration of historical buildings and ₹100 crore for new constructions. He inspected the university’s historical structures along with the Vice-Chancellor.
