**Hyderabad, March 17, 2025** – The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has refuted claims of encroaching on University of Hyderabad (UoH) land at Kancha Gachibowli. The TGIIC asserts that its development plans for the 400-acre site preserve existing rock formations, including the notable Mushroom Rock, as green spaces. A detailed environmental master plan is underway to ensure sustainable development.
The land, initially allotted to IMG Academies Bharata Pvt. Ltd. in 2004 for sports facilities, was resumed by the government in 2006 after the project stalled. Following an 18-year legal battle, the High Court and Supreme Court ruled in the government’s favor. The UoH was not a party to the litigation.
Revenue records confirm the land as government property, free from prior encroachments. A joint survey conducted with the UoH Registrar last July established the land boundaries. The government recently issued a request for proposals for the site’s integrated development, aiming to create world-class infrastructure and sustainable urban spaces.
