Mon Mar 17 03:30:00 UTC 2025: **Jamie Foxx Recounts Near-Death Experience, Reflecting on Second Chance**

LOS ANGELES, CA – Actor Jamie Foxx is opening up about his near-death experience last year, revealing a surprising contrast between his expectations and the reality of his medical emergency. Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of the Apple TV+ documentary “Number One on the Call Sheet,” Foxx shared a chilling detail: just before suffering a brain bleed and stroke while filming “Back in Action,” he discussed his affairs with his team.

“I was talking to my people…’Jamie, wanna go over some papers just in case something happens?'” Foxx recalled. He admitted to wondering about his own mortality before the incident, which left him in a coma for weeks.

The 57-year-old Oscar winner contrasted the unexpected nature of his health crisis with his previous imaginings of his demise. “I thought I was gonna go out like in ‘Colors,’ like a shootout,” he said, referencing the 1998 film. “I didn’t think I was just gonna go out asking for an aspirin.”

Following the April 2023 medical emergency in Atlanta, Foxx spent time reflecting on his experience. He credits the outpouring of love and support he received as pivotal to his recovery, and cites a conversation with God as leading him to a renewed sense of purpose.

“He said, ‘Hey man, I’m gonna give you a second chance — what you gonna do with it?'” Foxx explained. He responded by committing to spreading more joy and positivity. This commitment manifested in a stand-up comedy special, “What Had Happened Was…”, detailing his ordeal.

Foxx acknowledges some pushback on the spiritual aspects of his story, but insists on sharing his truth. He’s currently working on new material, and plans to continue his stand-up career. “Number One on the Call Sheet,” which Foxx co-produced, premieres on Apple TV+ on March 28th.
