**Chennai, March 17, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today unveiled a comprehensive book titled “Tamil Nadu Fiscal Management: Antiquity and Continuity,” published by the state’s Finance Department. The publication traces the history of the state’s financial management from the Sangam Age to the present day.
The book, launched at the Secretariat, delves into ancient trade practices, historical taxation systems, financial management under colonial rule, and detailed analyses of modern Tamil Nadu’s budget documents. It features contributions from renowned historians.
Along with the book’s release, the Chief Minister also launched a dedicated webpage, https://www.tamildigitallibrary.in/budget, providing online access to the publication’s content. The website is expected to facilitate research across various fields, including history and politics.
State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu received the first copy of the book. Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and Finance Secretary T. Udhayachandran were also in attendance. An English version of the book is expected to be released shortly.
