**VIJAYAWADA, March 17, 2025** – Andhra Hospitals in Vijayawada inaugurated a new Mothers’ Milk Bank on Sunday, offering a vital lifeline to newborns unable to receive breast milk. Funded by Rotary International with an investment exceeding ₹37 lakh, the project aims to collect and distribute donated breast milk to approximately 7,200 infants annually. These infants include premature babies, those with low birth weight, and those whose mothers lack sufficient milk supply.
Namrata Shirodkar, actress and wife of Telugu actor Mahesh Babu, spoke at the launch, emphasizing the critical importance of breast milk for infant health and praising the initiative as a significant benefit for vulnerable newborns. She also congratulated Andhra Hospitals and the Mahesh Babu Foundation for their collaborative efforts in performing over 4,500 pediatric heart surgeries and interventions in the past decade.
Andhra Hospitals Managing Director P.V. Ramana Murthy was also present at the launch event. The project is a collaboration between Andhra Hospitals and the Rotary Club of Vijayawada.
