**CHENNAI, March 17, 2025** – While the Metro Rail project progresses swiftly along Mount Poonamallee Road, a significant stretch of road between Dr. Ramachandra Hospital and Iyyappanthangal remains neglected, causing public concern. The area is marred by extensive garbage and construction debris dumping, according to residents.
The Highways Department has completed patching work from Alandur to Porur, but the section from Porur to Iyyappanthangal, where Metro Rail work is ongoing, remains unaddressed. A senior Highways Department official attributed the delay to the incomplete Metro project, assuring that repairs will be undertaken soon.
Further concerns were raised regarding the ongoing widening of the Velachery-Tambaram Main Road. Although work near the Velachery Main Road-Camp Road Junction is almost complete, the lack of paving on the expanded portion is hindering pedestrian access, according to reader Deepak Kumar Vasudevan of Selaiyur. The situation highlights inconsistencies in infrastructure development across the city.
