**Bengaluru, March 16, 2025** – A Holi celebration in Bengaluru’s Lalbagh Botanical Garden turned violent on Saturday evening, resulting in arrests and injuries. A clash between two groups of young people, reportedly intoxicated, erupted over a minor dispute. The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, sparked outrage due to the violation of Lalbagh’s ban on both Holi colors and alcohol.
The altercation involved families from Nepal working in the city. The fight, which involved sticks and verbal abuse, escalated quickly, causing fear among other visitors. An umbrella seller, Amar, who attempted to intervene, was assaulted and later hospitalized.
Garden security, initially unable to control the situation, contacted the police. Siddapura police arrived, dispersed the crowd, and arrested three individuals involved in the clash. A suo-motu case has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend those who fled the scene.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division), Lokesh Jagalasar, attributed the incident to a minor dispute between two families. He stated that increased patrolling and upgraded security measures have been implemented within Lalbagh to prevent future occurrences.
