**Kozhikode, Kerala, March 16, 2025** – Seven students have been arrested in Kozhikode district, Kerala, following a recent surge in motorcycle thefts in the Vadakara region. Police recovered seven stolen motorcycles and are investigating the possible involvement of other underage gangs.
The arrested students, all in classes IX and X, reportedly used the stolen motorcycles for joyrides, altering number plates and unlocking handlebars using techniques learned from YouTube tutorials. Police were surprised by the students’ proficiency in motorcycle theft, noting that there was no evidence of the vehicles being resold. The students’ parents were unaware of their children’s activities, which were often disguised as attending sports events or study groups.
The investigation is ongoing, with police exploring potential links to similar cases across rural police stations and gathering information on other students who may be involved.
