**New Delhi, March 14, 2025** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are facing a new FIR in an alleged ₹1,300 crore scam related to the construction of classrooms in Delhi government schools. President Droupadi Murmu approved the registration of the FIR under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, following allegations of “glaring irregularities” highlighted by the Central Vigilance Commission.
The alleged scam, first flagged in a 2019 police complaint by BJP leaders, involves the construction of nearly 12,748 classrooms. Reports suggest a highly inflated cost of ₹8,800 per square foot, with the total cost exceeding ₹24.86 lakh per classroom – significantly higher than the estimated ₹5 lakh construction cost. The Delhi government’s Vigilance Directorate and the Anti-Corruption Bureau both recommended investigations.
Sisodia, who held the Education portfolio, and Jain, who held the Public Works Department (PWD) portfolio during the alleged wrongdoing, are already on bail in separate cases. Sisodia reacted defiantly, stating that the AAP will not be intimidated by multiple cases filed by the BJP. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the BJP of a political “witch-hunt.”
