**Bengaluru, March 14, 2025** – A commission investigating allegations of widespread corruption during the previous BJP regime in Karnataka has submitted a 20,000-page report to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Headed by retired High Court judge H.N. Nagamohan Das, the commission investigated 1,729 files from 31 districts, covering public works completed between 2019 and 2023 at a total cost of ₹3.5 lakh crore.
The investigation, which utilized a three-pronged approach of file verification, spot inspections, and accounting investigations, found merit in allegations of corruption leveled by contractors. The commission discovered that many contractors were unfairly excluded from the tender process. A source close to the investigation revealed that the allegations were found to be “partly true,” and the commission has made several recommendations to the government to reform the system.
In addition to the main report, a separate 1,800-page report details alleged irregularities in the cost estimation for the modernization of the Narayanapur dam’s right bank canal. This investigation also found merit in the allegations. The commission is expected to complete its investigation into the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) within the next two months. The entire investigation spanned nearly 14 months.
