**Thiruvananthapuram, March 14, 2025** – The Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala will hold a march to Raj Bhavan on March 17 to protest the Union Budget, alleging it neglects the state’s needs. LDF convener T.P. Ramakrishnan criticized the budget for prioritizing privatization, citing the opening of the nuclear power sector to private players, increased private investment in power infrastructure, and a ₹10 lakh crore asset monetization plan. The allowance of 100% foreign direct investment in the insurance sector also drew criticism.
The LDF further accused the central government of reducing public funding for agriculture and allied sectors, highlighting a ₹3,400 crore decrease in fertilizer subsidies and cuts to crop insurance funding. Ramakrishnan claimed opposition-ruled states face a potential revenue loss of ₹1 lakh crore due to increased financial burdens from central schemes, alleging that BJP-ruled states receive preferential treatment in fund allocations. Demonstrations will be held across all Kerala Assembly constituencies except Thiruvananthapuram.
