Thu Mar 13 16:04:18 UTC 2025: ## DMK Invites BRS to Delimitation Meeting Amidst Concerns Over Southern States’ Representation

**Hyderabad, March 14, 2025** – A delegation from Tamil Nadu’s ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) met with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders in Hyderabad yesterday to invite them to a crucial meeting on parliamentary delimitation. The meeting, scheduled for March 22nd in Chennai, will address concerns over the perceived discriminatory impact of the Centre’s planned delimitation based on the last census.

The DMK delegation, including Minister K.N. Nehru and Rajya Sabha member N.R. Elango, argued that the Centre’s approach would unfairly reduce Southern States’ representation in Parliament due to their successful family planning programs. Both DMK and BRS leaders voiced strong opposition to this alleged bias.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao confirmed that party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed them to attend the Chennai meeting, although the specific representative has yet to be decided. The DMK stated that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has consistently highlighted this issue and that a joint action plan for Southern States will be announced following the March 22nd meeting. The meeting was attended by several prominent BRS leaders.
