Thu Mar 13 14:14:47 UTC 2025: **Tamil Nadu’s Economic Survey Reveals DMK Government’s Shortcomings, Claims PMK**
CHENNAI, March 13, 2025 – Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss has criticized the Tamil Nadu Economic Survey 2024-25, calling it an admission of the DMK government’s economic failures. In a social media post, Dr. Ramadoss highlighted a significant shortfall in the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), falling short of the projected ₹28.32 lakh crore target by ₹1 lakh crore.
The survey also casts doubt on the government’s ambitious goal of achieving a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030. Dr. Ramadoss points out that the projected growth rate of 8% is insufficient to meet this target, requiring a much higher rate of at least 18%.
He attributed the underperformance to the state government’s failure to control the sale of liquor and ganja, arguing that this is detrimental to human resources. Dr. Ramadoss urged the government to implement total prohibition and curb illegal drug sales to foster economic growth.
