Thu Mar 13 10:54:58 UTC 2025: ## J&K to Transfer ₹2,500 Crore in Liabilities to Ladakh

**Jammu, March 13, 2025** – The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, announced today that over ₹2,500 crore in financial liabilities will be transferred to the Union Territory of Ladakh. This transfer is in accordance with the asset and liability apportionment following the 2019 reorganization of Jammu & Kashmir, as per a notification issued by the general administration department in October 2020.

Mr. Abdullah, responding to a question in the Assembly, stated that the majority of the recommendations for asset and liability division have been implemented. The ₹2,504.46 crore debt transfer to Ladakh is currently being processed with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ladakh UT administration. The 2019 reorganization, which followed the revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A, created the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
