Wed Mar 12 22:07:49 UTC 2025: **Visakhapatnam Collector Announces Additional Funding for PMAY Housing Scheme**
VISAKHAPATNAM, March 13, 2025 – The Visakhapatnam Collector, M.N. Harendhira Prasad, announced yesterday that the government will provide additional financial assistance to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (PMAY) housing scheme. This initiative, part of the ‘Swarnandhra Vision 2047’ aims to ensure housing for all by 2029.
The additional funding, authorized under G.O. RT no. 9, will vary depending on the beneficiary’s caste: Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (BC) beneficiaries will receive an additional ₹50,000, Scheduled Tribes (ST) beneficiaries will receive ₹75,000, and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) will receive ₹100,000. This applies to houses costing ₹1.80 lakh.
Currently, 24,696 houses are under construction in the district under both the PMAY urban and rural schemes. The target is to complete 7,750 houses by the end of May. The Collector made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday. Project Director (Housing) Sattibabu was also present.
