Thu Mar 13 07:24:21 UTC 2025: ## ISRO Successfully Undocks SpaDex Satellites, Paving Way for Ambitious Future Missions

**Bengaluru, March 13, 2025** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully completed the undocking of its two Space Docking Experiment (SpaDex) satellites, a crucial milestone in India’s space program. The undocking, announced on March 13th, follows the historic docking of the SDX01 and SDX02 satellites on January 16th, making India the fourth nation to achieve this feat after the USA, Russia, and China.

The SpaDex mission, launched on December 30th, 2024, aboard the PSLV-C60 rocket, aimed to demonstrate the technology required for spacecraft rendezvous, docking, and undocking. This technology is vital for future ambitious projects, including the Gaganyaan human spaceflight program, Chandrayaan-4 lunar mission, and the development of a permanent Indian Space Station (Bharatiya Antriksha Station). The mission also successfully demonstrated the transfer of electric power between the docked spacecraft.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, lauded ISRO’s achievement, highlighting its significance for India’s future space endeavors. He stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the successful undocking paves the way for these ambitious future missions, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s continued support. The successful completion of the SpaDex mission marks a significant advancement in India’s space capabilities and reinforces its growing presence in the global space arena.
