Thu Mar 13 01:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Indian Banks to Close for Three Days for Holi 2025
**NEW DELHI** – Indian banks will be closed for three consecutive days, from Thursday, March 13th to Sunday, March 16th, 2025, in observance of the Holi festival, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Holi, the “festival of colours,” falls on Friday, March 14th, 2025. The closure encompasses Holi itself and the preceding and following weekend.
While the RBI’s holiday calendar dictates this closure, it has reportedly prompted increased online searches for clarification regarding banking services during this period. Although physical bank branches will be closed, online and mobile banking services will remain operational. The closure impacts both public and private sector banks across the country. The RBI’s holiday calendar is determined under the Negotiable Instruments Act, meaning transactions involving cheques and promissory notes will be unavailable during the closure.
