Wed Mar 12 06:30:00 UTC 2025: **Telangana Assembly Gears Up for Budget Session Under Tight Security**

HYDERABAD, March 12, 2025 – The Telangana Assembly is set to commence its budget session on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, under a blanket of tight security. Police have implemented stringent measures around the assembly, prohibiting protests, roadblocks, and demonstrations. Three DCPs, seven ACPs, eighteen CIs, twenty-five ASIs, and 220 constables have been deployed for security duties, with constant monitoring from a command control center. Traffic restrictions are also in place around the assembly.

The session is anticipated to be highly charged, with several key issues on the agenda. These include the state budget itself, the ongoing debate between the BJP and the ruling party over funds allocated to Telangana, discussions on the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies, and the allocation of funds to South Indian states. The session will begin with Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan’s address to both houses on Wednesday.

Key legislative actions expected include the introduction of bills concerning BC reservations and SC categorization. The exact timeline for the introduction and debate of these bills will be determined at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). The budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year is slated for presentation on March 19th. The government plans to conclude the session by the end of the month.

Adding to the high-stakes nature of the session is the anticipated presence of KCR, the BRS president and leader of the opposition, who will be attending the session. This marks a significant change from his limited participation in previous sessions. It is expected that he will only attend on specific days: Wednesday for the Governor’s address and March 19th for the budget presentation.

The government is also expected to introduce a resolution on the redrawing of parliamentary constituencies, based on the 1971 census, and send it to the central government.
