**Hyderabad, March 12, 2025** – The Telangana government has announced plans for a massive new city, dubbed “Future City,” designed to be India’s first net-zero urban center. Spanning 765 sq km across 56 villages, the project aims to redefine urban development in the country.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, addressing the State Legislature, highlighted the initiative as a model for next-generation urban planning. Future City will integrate smart infrastructure, sustainable industrial development, and inclusive residential planning. Key components include an AI-powered city, pharmaceutical and manufacturing clusters, and a comprehensive multimodal transportation system with metro access.
The project, strategically located between Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam highways, is expected to significantly boost economic activity and create numerous employment opportunities. A dedicated Future City Development Authority will oversee the project’s implementation, ensuring seamless execution and adherence to the net-zero goal.
