Wed Mar 12 15:39:24 UTC 2025: ## Former MLA Accuses Officials of MGNREGA Fraud in Karnataka
**Kalaburagi, Karnataka – March 13, 2025** – Former MLA Subhash Guttedar has accused officials in Aland taluk of Kalaburagi district of misappropriating approximately ₹35 crore in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) funds. Guttedar alleges that instead of employing manual laborers as mandated by the scheme, authorities used earthmovers to dig 468 open wells across three gram panchayats (Hal Tadakal, Madan Hipparaga, and Kadaganchi).
He claims that false records, including NMRs and attendance reports, were created by officials and associates of Aland MLA B.R. Patil. Guttedar has given the Zilla Panchayat CEO one week to investigate and take action against those involved, threatening an indefinite hunger strike if no action is taken. The alleged fraud involves the misuse of funds allocated for open well construction under the MGNREGA scheme.
