Wed Mar 12 15:56:19 UTC 2025: ## Coimbatore Flyover Project Nears Completion, but Faces Delays
**COIMBATORE, March 12, 2025** – The construction of a major 10km flyover on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore, estimated to cost ₹1,700 crore, is nearing completion but faces minor delays. Initially slated for December 2024, the main carriageway is now expected to be finished by the end of May 2025.
Delays stem from challenges in constructing five spans. Utility relocation, particularly electricity lines at the Nava India junction, and the complex installation of a 52-meter steel span over a railway line in the Hope College area, have contributed to the setback. Railway authorities are closely monitoring the steel span’s construction.
While the main carriageway’s completion is delayed, four of the eight planned ramps are already finished, and the remaining are expected to be completed on schedule. Work on service roads will commence after the ramp construction is complete.
Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar inspected the project on Wednesday, reviewing progress and addressing challenges faced by the contractors. The project, once complete, will significantly improve traffic flow in the city.
