Wed Mar 12 15:08:27 UTC 2025: ## Telangana to Clear 20 Lakh Pending Land Regularization Applications

**Hyderabad, March 12, 2025** – The Telangana government is poised to clear approximately 20 lakh pending applications under the 2020 Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS). These applications, submitted over four years ago, are now expected to be processed after applicants fulfill necessary formalities and fee payments.

Officials anticipate at least 5 lakh applicants will take advantage of a 25% rebate on LRS fees and open space charges offered until March 31st. Initially, 25 lakh applications were received, but 2.5 lakh were rejected due to plots being located on prohibited lands. Further exclusions for plots near water bodies, requiring additional inspection, reduced the number eligible for clearance to 20 lakh. Discrepancies in market value declarations in another 5-6 lakh applications are currently under review by the Registration & Stamps Department.

Fee payment letters have already been sent to 14.9 lakh applicants with compliant applications. Letters for the remaining applicants will follow once Registration Department reviews are complete. Clearance for plots near water bodies is expected within 10 days of inspection.

While the government is actively promoting the rebate through awareness campaigns led by District Collectors, there appears to be less proactive engagement by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. Technical glitches affecting the online portal have also been resolved. The government order also mandates that plots in unauthorized layouts must be regularized before registration or building permits are issued.
