**Hyderabad, March 11, 2025** – Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is seeking collaboration with National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) to expand into critical mineral exploration, alongside its existing coal mining and power generation operations. SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram met with his NMDC counterpart, Amitava Mukherjee, in Hyderabad on Tuesday to formally request the partnership.
Mr. Balaram highlighted SCCL’s recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IIT-Hyderabad for technology transfer in critical mineral mining and emphasized the value of NMDC’s extensive experience in this field. He presented a PowerPoint outlining SCCL’s capabilities and future expansion plans, which include diversification supported by the state government.
Mr. Mukherjee expressed NMDC’s willingness to cooperate, emphasizing the shared national interest in mineral resource development. He offered the possibility of including SCCL in future NMDC projects, and specifically mentioned potential collaboration at NMDC’s Jharkhand coal block. Both organizations affirmed their commitment to meeting India’s growing resource needs.
