**Chennai, March 11, 2025** – A 55-year-old construction worker was electrocuted and another critically injured in Velachery, Chennai, on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the two men, working on scaffolding, accidentally contacted a high-voltage power line with their metal tools.
S. Pushparaj, a resident of Adambakkam, died at the scene. His coworker, Emmanuel, also from Adambakkam, sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition at Government Royapettah Hospital.
Police investigations are underway, and a case has been filed by the Velachery police. Electricity officials responded to the scene and immediately cut off power supply after being notified of the incident. The accident occurred at a house under construction in Bhavani Nagar, where the workers were employed for plastering work by a homeowner named Mani.
