**Vijayawada, March 11, 2025** – A one-man committee, headed by retired IAS officer Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, submitted its report on the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SCs) in Andhra Pradesh to Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand on Tuesday. The committee, appointed in November 2024 under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952, conducted extensive research across the state, consulting with community representatives and experts. Its recommendations aim to ensure a more equitable distribution of reservation benefits among various SC sub-groups. The Andhra Pradesh government is now expected to review the report and consider implementing its policy recommendations. This action follows the Supreme Court’s upholding of states’ rights to sub-categorize SCs for quota benefits.
