Tue Mar 11 17:50:00 UTC 2025: ## América Midfielder Richard Sánchez Set to Join Racing Club
**MEXICO CITY** – América midfielder Richard Sánchez is on the verge of joining Argentine club Racing Club, ESPN Deportes has confirmed. After weeks of negotiations, a deal has been struck for a reported $4 million transfer fee. Sánchez will maintain a similar salary to his current earnings at América, a key factor in his decision.
The Paraguayan international, a fan favorite known as “Cachorro,” informed his América teammates of his impending transfer during a pre-game team meeting before a crucial match against Chivas. The news was met with applause and emotional farewells, highlighting Sánchez’s popularity within the squad.
The transfer resolves a long-standing negotiation, with the final hurdle being Sánchez receiving a 10% share of the transfer fee as stipulated in his contract. This has now been settled with the América board. His contract with Racing will run until 2027, with an option for a further year.
América facilitated the transfer to free up a non-Mexican player (NFM) spot, which will likely be used to register defender Igor Lichnovsky next summer or potentially sign a left-sided attacker.
Sánchez leaves América after six years, having won three Liga MX titles, one Campeón de Campeones, and one Supercopa de la Liga MX.
