**Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, March 10, 2025** – An 85-year-old man, Karala Gounder, was beaten to death by his 53-year-old son, K. Murugesan, in Nathamedu near Mohanur on Monday. The incident stemmed from a dispute over money for alcohol. Murugesan, a farmer, allegedly attacked his father with a wooden log after Gounder refused to give him money for drinking. Gounder succumbed to his injuries at the Namakkal Government Hospital.

Police have arrested Murugesan and registered a case. It has been revealed that Murugesan had recently completed treatment at a de-addiction center in Dharmapuri but had relapsed into alcoholism.
