**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – March 9, 2025** – A potentially disastrous train accident was averted on Sunday thanks to the quick thinking of a villager near Gudur railway station in Andhra Pradesh. Sunil, a local resident, noticed a crack in the welding between two railway tracks on the Howrah-Bengaluru Express route. He immediately alerted the loco pilot, leading to the train being stopped just outside Gudur station.

Railway engineering staff swiftly responded, repairing the damaged section of track. According to Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra A. Patil, the problem involved a breakage at a rail joint, which was partially concealed by fish plates. The repair work took approximately half an hour, resulting in a minor delay for the Howrah-Bengaluru Express. All other train services are reported to be operating according to schedule. DRM Patil commended the villager’s alertness, highlighting his crucial role in preventing a serious incident.
