**Ludhiana, Punjab, March 9, 2025** – A multi-storey textile factory collapsed in the Focal Point Phase-8 area of Ludhiana late Saturday evening, resulting in one death and several critical injuries. Six workers were trapped under the debris, with one found dead upon rescue by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams. Three others remain in critical condition. A seventh worker was rescued earlier and transported to a nearby hospital.
The collapse, preceded by a loud sound according to eyewitnesses, triggered a large-scale rescue operation involving NDRF, police, fire brigade, and municipal corporation personnel. Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal are personally overseeing the rescue efforts, prioritizing the rescue of any remaining trapped workers. The Health department has deployed medical teams and ambulances to the site, and the municipal corporation and fire safety department have also increased their on-site presence.
While the deceased worker remains unidentified, the rescue operation continues to determine if anyone else is trapped beneath the rubble. An investigation into the cause of the collapse is expected.
