**Hyderabad, March 9, 2025** – The Telangana health department has issued a public advisory warning of rising temperatures and urging citizens to take precautions against heatstroke. Following an India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast predicting a 2-3°C increase in maximum temperatures over the next three days, the advisory, issued by Dr. B. Ravinder Nayak, Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, outlines preventative measures.

The advisory recommends staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, using Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), and consuming water-rich foods. Citizens are advised to minimize sun exposure by wearing light clothing, head coverings, and staying indoors during peak sunlight hours (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.). Strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day should be avoided, along with alcohol, caffeinated drinks, and high-protein/spicy foods.

Warning signs of heatstroke, such as confusion, dizziness, high body temperature, nausea, and rapid heartbeat, are highlighted, with immediate medical attention urged if any symptoms appear. The government has prepared public health centers with necessary resources, including ORS and trained healthcare workers to assist the public.
