Sun Mar 09 13:26:17 UTC 2025: ## IISc Scientist to Receive Inaugural Dr. Aashrai Sai Venkat Gudlavalleti Memorial Award

**Hyderabad, March 9, 2025** – Dr. Jonas S. Sundarakumar of the Centre for Brain Research (CBR), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has been selected as the first recipient of the Dr. Aashrai Sai Venkat Gudlavalleti Memorial Award. The award, established by the Gudlavalleti family and PRASHO Foundation, honors the legacy of Dr. Aashrai Gudlavalleti, a neurologist who passed away on March 12, 2024.

Dr. Sundarakumar, a leading researcher in the field of ageing and dementia, will be recognized for his work on India’s first large-scale longitudinal study on the subject (CBR-SANSCOG study). This study focuses on understanding the epidemiology of dementia, identifying risk factors, and developing strategies for early detection.

The award ceremony, which will include an oration by Dr. Sundarakumar, will be held on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kapil Kavuri Hub (2nd floor, World Trade Centre) in Hyderabad.
