**Mumbai, India –** Netflix’s new rom-com, “Nadaaniyan,” starring debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, has received mixed reviews. While boasting a youthful cast and flashy production values reminiscent of Karan Johar’s earlier films, the movie is criticized for its superficiality and predictable plot.
The film centers on a fake relationship between Pia Jaisingh (Kapoor), a wealthy but unhappy teenager, and Arjun Mehta (Khan), a driven, middle-class student. Their arrangement aims to appease Pia’s family and navigate the social complexities of their elite Delhi school, Falcon High.
While attempting to tackle themes of class disparity, gender bias, and family pressure, “Nadaaniyan” is deemed too lighthearted to effectively explore these serious issues. The film’s glib tone and reliance on clichés prevent the deeper messages from resonating with the audience.
