Wed Mar 05 23:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Strong Winds and Temperature Drop Sweep Across North India; Heavy Snow Disrupts Mountain States
**New Delhi, March 6, 2025** – A significant weather change is sweeping across several states in India, bringing strong winds, temperature drops, and heavy snowfall in mountainous regions. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted strong northwest winds of 14-18 kilometers per hour for Delhi-NCR on Thursday, leading to a drop in temperatures. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 29°C, and the minimum around 13°C.
While Delhi experiences a mix of cool mornings and evenings with sunny afternoons, the impact of a western disturbance is more severely felt in other parts of the country. Heavy snowfall and rainfall have caused widespread disruption in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, closing roads and impacting daily life. This snowfall has consequently lowered temperatures in neighboring plains states like Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.
Uttar Pradesh is bracing for even stronger winds, with speeds reaching 30-40 kilometers per hour. However, the IMD anticipates a decrease in wind speed by Friday. Rajasthan also experienced a 4°C temperature drop due to strong westerly winds, although a temperature rise is expected by March 7-8.
Skymet Weather predicts strong winds will continue across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Maharashtra over the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rainfall is forecast for the northeastern states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, and light rain is also possible in Kerala and Lakshadweep. Gujarat is expected to see a further drop in maximum temperatures. The disruption caused by the heavy snowfall in the mountainous states is expected to continue impacting daily life for the foreseeable future.
